02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Kyle & Carrick District Scout Council is responsible for supporting Scouting within the District. The District Trustee Board exists to support the District Lead Volunteer in meeting the responsibilities of the appointment - to provide support for Scout Groups, Explorer Scout Units, District Scout Network and Scout Active Support within the District. In furtherance of these objectives we continue to try to organise competitions and events to bring Groups and Units together and to widen the learning experience of our young people. We presently have 14 Groups and 5 Explorer Units in our District. A shortage of adults has also weakened both the District Trustee Board and the District Team, and this is referred to in more detail in the District Lead Volunteer’s report.
