02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We serve a dispersed rural population in South West Mull and Iona where there is limited public transport, no private taxi service, and limited patient transport. We coordinate the provision of transport services by volunteers and our employed coordinator using a mix of volunteers’ own vehicles and our electric Mercedes bus to provide free transport. Key activities include: transport to medical appointments, social events (including those aimed at the elderly or children), shops and ferries. delivery of shopping or prescriptions to the housebound. and provision of the 7 seater electric vehicle for use by residents and community groups. By doing this we ensure that residents are able to make important appointments and promote social inclusion of people who otherwise risk being isolated.

Constitutional objectives
4. The organisations purposes are: 4.1 To promote a transport service that continually examines the ways in which it can effectively reduce its greenhouse gas emissions & adopt strategies to implement these. 4.2 To meet the transport needs of the people on the Ross of Mull & Iona. 4.3 To promote the participation of residents of the Ross of Mull & Iona in activities & events where transport would normally be a barrier. 4.4 To promote a reduction in social isolation & exclusion in vulnerable groups in the community of the Ross of Mull & Iona. 4.5 To advance the ability of residents of the Ross of Mull & Iona to access medical appointments when transport would normally be a barrier. 4.6 To promote a service which will enable community groups to access an affordable vehicle.
