02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
SAMs Charity is a small volunteer-led charity that was initially created in 2012 as a community-focused, safe place in which children/young people (YP) aged 3-18 with profound disabilities and/or multiple additional support (ASN) could have fun, make friends, and simply be themselves. The charity has since evolved and now offers year-round recreational, social, sensory, and support opportunities to improve the inclusion, resilience, and life-long wellbeing of these often-excluded children/YP and their parents/carers. Our core operations include monthly clubs, short breaks and an annual holiday for its members.

Constitutional objectives
To provide recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. This will be achieved through a monthly Club that will allow young people with special needs to play and interact with other children and assisted support from volunteers. It will also allow the parents/carers of these young people some time to relax and watch their child interact and play with others.
