02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Friends of Hazlehead is an active community group which aims to work alongside Aberdeen City Council to improve the facilities and infrastructure of the park. We work with local communities to help make the park open to all which includes maintenance and events to encourage the use of the park. Funding is received from the local council, local businesses and individuals.

Constitutional objectives

The advancement of environmental improvement and protection and the provision of recreational facilities and activities for the public benefit in the City of Aberdeen and in furtherance of this. a. To protect and enhance the amenity of Hazlehead Park area and environs for the long-term enjoyment of all groups and to encourage its use. b. To ensure that a balance is maintained between providing an enjoyable public area, an ecologically sound environment and as a venue for events and sports. c. To make the park and surrounding area safe and attractive for all year round use. d. To ensure that the park and facilities are accessible and affordable to all. e. To listen to the local community in determining our priorities and means of fulfilling these aims. f. To encourage local community participation in achieving these aims and support the day-to-day running of the park. g. To present the views of the local community in relation to the park and surrounding area with regards to future development proposals. h. To promote Hazlehead Park as a visitor and tourist attraction. i. To work alongside Aberdeen City Council and other bodies in achieving the aims above.
