02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our purpose is to develop community assets into completely self-sustaining ventures in the following areas: SOCIALLY: We will create a 'local village' effect, with an emphasis on providing facilities, with a focal point for social and economic interaction, supporting physical and mental health. PHYSICALLY: We will design high quality accessible public and green spaces for the community to feel valued and proud of. ECONOMICALLY: Creating employment for local people and 'Circulating the Linwood Pound'. Using local suppliers and businesses, will ensure money spent in our facilities is reinvested directly back into the local economy contributing to community wealth building.

Constitutional objectives

The Company’s main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The charitable purposes of the Company are: (i) The provision of and access to recreational sporting facilities and activities for the residents of Linwood and the area within the Community. (ii) The promotion and provision of training opportunities, particularly among the residents within the Community, with particular reference to skills which will assist the participants in obtaining paid employment. (iii) To advance education and in particular to promote opportunities for lifelong learning for the benefit of the residents of the area within the Community. (iv) To promote and advance the health and wellbeing of the residents of the area within the Community. (v) To relieve poverty among the residents of the area within the Community. (vi) To advance the protection and improvement of the environment of the area within the Community. (vii) The advancement of citizenship and community development.
