To improve the health, wealth and well-being of the people of Castle Douglas town and surrounds (Ward 4, Dumfries and Galloway).

Constitutional objectives

3.The SCIO’s purposes are to benefit principally the community of Castle Douglas and the surrounding areas which comprises the with the postcodes DG7 1, DG7 2, DG7 3 and are within Ward 4, Castle Douglas and Croscketford, as defined by Loca. Government Boundary Commission for Scotland (Fifth Review of Electoral Arrangements) for Dumfries and Galloway Council area (‘’the community’’) with the following objectives: 3.1 The advancement of community development (including the advancement of urban and rural regeneration) principally within the Community. 3.2 The advancement of education 3.3 The advancement of citizenship 3.4 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement 3.5 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended 3.6 The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science 3.7 The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage But only to the extent that the above purposes are consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development
