02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We broadcast to our local area with a phone-in or text-line for those who need to or wish to communicate. We liaise with other local charities and our local authority to deliver outside broadcasts and assist at local events. Our unit in the retail centre is offered to other charities as required for a fee. We hold meetings with our members at least twice per annum.

Constitutional objectives

K107 will operate as a non-profit distributing charity whose principal purpose is to advance citizenship or community development through the development of broadcasting skills and capacity of the residents of the area of benefit stated in clause 2 above, with particular attention to the most socially and economically disadvantages communities in order to support their regeneration through the media of radio and the internet as a means of empowerment and education to build confidence and maximise opportunities for them to participate in economic, social and civic life of their community. In furtherance of the stated purpose, K107 will: - 4.1 advance the education of people in the Kirkcaldy and surrounding area by providing, or providing access to, training in the use of radio equipment at all levels of programme production, broadcasting and other media training opportunities.
