Constitutional objectives

The objects for which the Society is established are to advance the study of and research into underwater science and technology and to secure the widest possible dissemination to the public of knowledge gained in such research and study with a view to furthering the proper economic and sociological use of the oceans and the earth beneath the oceans for the benefit of man and human life and health and to that end to assist the exchange of practical information between workers in underwater academic research, applied research and technology and industry, to advance the development of the techniques and tools to explore, study and exploit the oceans and the earth beneath the oceans, to advance the education of scientists and technologists in appropriate disciplines, to bring together scientists and other practitioners interested in this field for the promotion of scientific discussion and cooperation between any groups with the same or similar charitable objects either in the United Kingdom or abroad.
