02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Thenue Communities is a community-based charity working to improve the quality of life of people living in Calton, Netherholm and surrounding communities in Glasgow. We provide accessible community facilities and create opportunities that reduce isolation and poverty, improve wellbeing and help people participate more fully in their community. We do this by operating local community centres, providing affordable space for community groups and services, and delivering and supporting activities for children, families and adults. We work closely with local residents, volunteers and partner organisations to provide community activities, learning and training opportunities, advice and support, family events and opportunities to get involved and volunteer. Our approach is shaped by local needs and aims to build stronger, more connected and resilient communities.

Constitutional objectives
5. The Objects are:- 5.1 to provide recreational facilities and to organise recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of the life for persons within the communities and geographical area in which the Parent Association operates, particularly through the development and operation of community halls. 5.2 to promote the advancement of citizenship and community development particularly through the promotion of civic responsibility. and 5.3 the advancement of education through the promotion of training and education.
