02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The purpose of the charity is the advancement of health (including the relief of sickness) and the saving of lives by responding to cardiovascular and other emergencies. First Responders are under the umbrella of NHS Scottish Ambulance Service and will only be called if Ambulance Control have received a 999 call and have decided it is appropriate to send a First Responder to the patient, until the ambulance arrives. JFR volunteers book on through the Scottish Ambulance Service for a period of time determined by the volunteer. JFR volunteers receive monthly training sessions under the guidance of the Scottish Ambulance Service. JFR volunteers deliver first response training assistance and awareness to people in the local community and surrounding areas.
