02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Skylark IX Recovery Trust is established to preserve and restore Skylark IX, a nationally significant Dunkirk Little Ship, while using this work as a vehicle for community benefit, skills development and recovery support. The charity brings together volunteers from the local community, many of whom are in recovery from addiction, to participate in meaningful, structured and inclusive activities that promote wellbeing, social connection and personal development. The charity's work combines heritage preservation with community engagement, education and health promoting activity, creating a supportive environment where individuals can rebuild confidence, learn practical skills and strengthen their sense of belonging.

4 1 to advance heritage through the restoration and preservation of the Skylark in Dumbarton and any other such seacraft and vessels which provide connections with the boat-building heritage of Dumbarton 42 to advance education by encouraging, supporting and assisting in the provision of heritage and educational services relating to the boat building heritage of Dumbarton 4 3 to advance citizenship, community development and civic responsibility with a special focus on raising awareness and appreciation among the local community of the industrial and social heritage of Dumbarton
