Constitutional objectives

The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1. To advance environmental protection and improvement by conserving bats, biodiversity and healthy ecosystems across Africa - through applied research, evidence-based conservation action and ecological restoration. 4.2. To advance education by increasing youth and community understanding and appreciation of bats, biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, through inclusive, participatory and accessible learning, engagement and outreach activities. 4.3. To advance science by conducting and supporting research into bat ecology and conservation and disseminating the results to inform effective conservation policy and practice. 4.4. To advance skills and capacity by training and supporting conservationists, ecologists and researchers across Africa, to strengthen local expertise in wildlife conservation and habitat management. 4.5. To advance community development by supporting sustainable livelihood approaches that contribute to poverty alleviation while safeguarding ecosystems and biodiversity. 4.6. To advance animal welfare by changing attitudes towards human-wildlife interactions and engaging with and providing training to vets and wildlife rescue centres to support bat rehabilitation. 4.7. To engage communities, governments, NGOs, academic institutions and other stakeholders across Africa to promote conservation measures that are collaborative, ethical, and evidence-based.
