02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Argyll Convention was set up to promote biblical teaching and education to the people of Oban and visitors to the area, by means of presentations and workshops delivered over the course of three days. If required, children have their own Kidzone, activities provided by disclosed experienced adults, drawn from local churches. People are encouraged to respond to the challenges of the Gospel and to further explore the Christian faith for themselves. The Convention is planned and organised by the Committee who usually meet monthly to discuss the current year's theme and content. The Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer and Secretary adhere to the legal requirements of holding an event, with regard to Insurance, Copyright, Disclosures and Annual examined Accounts submission. All helpers are volunteers, including the musicians, singers and worship leaders. The Speakers and Workshop facilitators are paid.
