02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The organisation is established for charitable purposes only and in particular to help with mental health in the community, providing activities and information that will promote good mental health. We also encourage the advancement of citizenship and community development by providing supportive volunteering opportunities for people recovering from mental health challenges (and those who would just like to help) and opportunities to work together to promote positive mental health and well-being in the community. We will provide a trained facilitator to ensure quality peer group participation.

Constitutional objectives

4.1 To provide and promote recreational activities with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. It will do this by providing a supporting and enabling environment in which people will be able to access activities which are proven to benefit health and wellbeing. 4.2 To support the advancement of health by promoting effective self-management for individuals experiencing a wide range of challenges to their health. It will do this by promoting Wellness Recovery Action Planning as an effective self-management tool which enables individuals to take control of their recovery and wellness. 4.3 To encourage the advancement of citizenship and community development by providing supportive volunteering opportunities for people recovering from mental health challenges and opportunities to work together to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in their communities.
