02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Marr Rugby is a community club that provides enjoyable rugby opportunities and experiences to all members of the community as an inclusive and diverse club with respect at its core. We provide access to high quality/ high performance and/or social rugby opportunities for players, coaches and spectators from Troon and its surrounding area. We have over 750 young people and adults actively involved in playing rugby and almost 100 involved in volunteer coaching. This equates to more than 5% of the total local population. At adult level we run four senior teams – three Men’s and one Women’s and have more than 150 players involved. We are one of only a few clubs in Scotland able to field this number of senior squads. Our Minis and Youth sections continue to thrive in conjunction with the schools and the SRU. In addition to the physical and emotional benefits that participation in sport provides, our young people gain and benefit from lifelong learning and transferable skills.
