Constitutional objectives

7.1 The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes through operating primarily as a 'grant making' organisation to provide funding and support for the operation, management and development of (amateur, youth, community and other categories recognised as charitable) sport and physical activity (which shall mean for the purposes of this constitution particularly, but not necessarily exclusively, a focus on football) facilities, projects, programmes and infrastructure including arrangements for access to such facilities etc so as to encourage wider participation, promote better health, well being and greater social and community inclusion as well as using sports related activities where appropriate to support the charitable purposes noted at 7.2.3 and 7.2.4 below. 7.2 For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are particularly relevant and for the purposes of the 2005 Act are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act:- 7.2.1 the advancement of public participation in sport. 7.2.2 the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life of the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 7.2.3 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. and 7.2.4 the advancement of heritage (as related to sport).
