02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Responding to the well-evidenced problems of drugs and alcohol misuse across the UK, Street Connect works in partnership with local churches and other agencies to support disadvantaged and marginalised individuals in their recovery from drug and alcohol addictions and related life-controlling issues. Those who benefit from our work have in many cases been affected by a range of complex needs associated with addiction, combining histories of drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness, medical problems, relationship and family breakdowns, isolation, trauma, mental health issues, offending patterns and educational needs. Working from our base in Glasgow city centre we equip local churches with the skills they need to use their resources to reach out and support those in need in their local communities. We currently work with partners in Greater Glasgow, West of Scotland and projects in Lincolnshire, England and Ebbw Vale Wales and are seeking to expand into new locations.
