02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Sound Waves is set up to provide music making and performance opportunities for young people on Mull and young artists from around the UK. Sound Waves engages in two main activities: Mendelssohn on Mull and Mull Music Makers.

Constitutional objectives
7.1 To advance education in music, mainly instrumental, for all age groups, from pre-school children to post-graduates through: 7.1.1 Encouraging performance of live music. 7.1.2 Providing post-graduates with ongoing opportunities to develop their musical talent in the wider professional music world. 7.1.3 Involving children resident in remote areas with musical activities and training which would not otherwise be available to them. 7.2 To advance the art of music by attracting audiences of all ages and providing access to music of the highest standard with free concerts in interesting venues, thus enhancing the musical understanding of all concertgoers and building new audiences for classical music.
