02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We use the reward circuitry of the brain, the part dealing with motivation and appetites, as the basis of our programmes to improve health by building resilience to stress. We focus on the risks around Internet pornography use. We run a large website making scientific and other information available to a wide public. It features a free ‘Parents Guide to Internet Pornography’ to empower parents to speak with confidence to their children in talking about pornography. We offer seven free lesson plans for teachers to use in secondary schools and a free, six-hour online training course for professionals on ‘problematic pornography use’. This is primarily directed to healthcare professionals but also criminal justice officers and anyone else working with people having issues from problematic pornography use. We publish original research and publicise our work through social media and by appearances in the press, on television, radio and via our ‘Rewarding News’.
