02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity is set up to receive grants from 4 local hydro schemes and can also receive money through donations. The money is to be used for community benefit in the Strathglass community. Local groups can apply 2 times annually (in January and in June) for funds for local projects. The trustees have funding meetings after the funding rounds close and allocate money to projects based on demonstrated need in the application form. The trustees ensure projects will be viable and are value for money by carefully checking the applications and by their knowledge of the community in which they live. We ask groups to submit a completion report and show proof of spending, and to return any unspent money. Groups are aware that they cannot receive further grant aid until previous feedback is complete. Most projects funded are volunteer led and all benefit the Strathglass area and people living there.
