02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Summerhill Community Centre is a hub of holistic wellbeing activities in community life. For example: over the period November 2024 to October 2025 our volunteers and staff delivered the following: • Youth Services 900 sessions • Older Peoples Services / Intergenerational and food Activities 280 Sessions • Environmental Umbrella Project 50 Sessions • Sports / Fitness (all ages) 350 sessions • Training / Placements / Support 500 Sessions • Amazing Futures Project 200 sessions (Plus Family Prison Visitors Support 120 sessions) We are proud to maintain people led services with a large volunteer network of 64 unique individuals who range from 10 - 92 years olds. Some of our volunteers, participants and beneficiaries have direct experience of poverty, lived experience of many challenging barriers in life and have joined our Community Hub for many different reasons. Our team ensure we effectively manage the Centre on a daily basis which includes all cleaning and maintenance.
