02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We deliver free tuition in piping and drumming to both adult and junior members of the local community through the established Govan Schools and Community Pipe Band. The band is competitive so we have a presence both at community level and within the RSPBA framework of graded pipe bands. Fund raising events are the main source of income, along with a some donations and a small contribution from band members if they are able.

Constitutional objectives
The objects for which the Company is established are: a. To promote and advance the arts, heritage and culture of Highland Bagpipe and Drum Music within the deprived area of Govan in Glasgow. b. To provide lessons and education in all aspects of pipe band work to school children at every level of experience and ability in Govan. c. To provide instruments for school pupils to use to practice and learn Highland Bagpipe and Drum Music in Govan. d. To establish a charitable trust for the purpose of receiving and administering funds to be used for the charitable purposes set out in the constitution. e. To raise funds to further the objectives of the Association. f. To provide a cost effective, financial and administrative base for the achievement of that purpose.
