02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We empower people with the skills, knowledge, confidence & experience to overcome the barriers that they face when getting into, or sustaining, employment. We doing this in order that they can avoid living in poverty & can sustain positive mental & physical health & well-being. How: Understanding all aspects of the workplace, including Health & Safety. Understanding the needs & expectations of employers, colleagues, customers, & self. Recognising barriers to employment & how to overcome them in order to sustain employment. Making use of positive, solution-focussed approaches with short-, medium- & long-term goal setting & achieving. Writing CV’s & application forms. Preparing & practicing for interviews. Building on-the-job knowledge, skills, experience, & confidence. Procurement. Deliveries & Clearances. Furniture restoration. Retail & Auction. Advice, guidance, & empathy from a member of staff at all times. Follow up assistance if needed.

The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: 4.1 to relieve unemployment by targeting people who are unemployed or at risk of being unemployed and supporting them through work placements and experience in a live work environment, and transition on into employment. 4.2 to advance informal education of young people and adults who are of, or are to become of, an employable age. by running employment focussed workshops, training within work experience and support to achieve recognised qualifications.
