02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charitable purposes of FYP are set out in the Constitution and comprise the advancement of citizenship and education, the organisation of recreational activities for the benefit of the young people participating in FYP and the advancement of religion. All of FYP’s activities are conducted within the guiding framework of the Christian faith and the Trustees desire is that those young people involved in FYP will explore the relevance of Christianity to their lives and situations.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: 4.1 the advancement of citizenship for young people having a connection with areas of disadvantage and deprivation in the north of Edinburgh by establishing a presence within the community where safe and stable relationships can be built and support offered. 4.2 the advancement of education through engaging with and working alongside local schools, offering both formal and informal educational programmes and activities so that young people are better equipped to make good choices. 4.3 the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for young people, thereby assisting the development of their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. 4.4 the advancement of religion by fulfilling the above purposes at all times within a framework of Christian faith and values, working in active engagement with local churches and other agencies.
