What the charity exists to do

To preserve the ethos and memory of the Edinburgh woman surgeon Elsie Inglis (1864-1917) and her Scottish Women's Hospitals of The Great War, The Trust's annual commissioned bronze Dr Elsie Inglis-Scottish Women's Hospitals' 3 inch diameter Medal encouraging Scots school-leavers and undergraduates to read Medicine

Constitutional objectives

3.1 the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science, through the establishment of a monument or statue commemorating the women who volunteered during World War I to provide medical support, 3.2 the advancement of the education of the public in the role of women in medicine, and particularly Scottish women medical volunteers during World War I, principally through exhibitions and developing educational materials for use in schools and other educational establishments and promoting and arranging school exchanges between Edinburgh and French schools. 3.3 the relief of poverty and the advancement of education through the establishment of an annual financial award to be made to an individual studying medicine at the Medical School of the University of Edinburgh, in memory of the women who volunteered during World War I to provide medical support.
