What the charity exists to do
Our charity is dedicated to advancing marine science and technology in Scotland and beyond. We achieve this by conducting and promoting research, education, and communication focused on marine science, ecosystems, and technology. Additionally, we provide vital information and support to members, organisations, public bodies, and governments to inform marine policy and management. A key part of our mission is enhancing public understanding and knowledge of the marine environment and ecosystems. Through these activities, we strive to protect and sustainably manage marine resources while fostering a greater appreciation of their importance.

Constitutional objectives
3 CHARITABLE PURPOSES and POWERS 3.1 The Charitable Purposes of MASTS ('the Charitable Purposes') are to advance, and to encourage the advance of, marine science and technology in Scotland and elsewhere, and further thereto: 3.1.1 to establish, undertake, manage, enable, encourage and promote research, communication and education across Scotland and elsewhere in relation to marine science and technology, and the marine environment and ecosystems. 3.1.2 to provide information and support to members, other organisations, public bodies and governments and to inform marine policy and management. 3.1.3 to contribute to and enhance the public’s knowledge and understanding of the marine environment and ecosystems. and 3.1.4 To support education, research and training in marine science and technology, whether through financial assistance or other means.
