02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We are set up to provide berthing for pleasure boats, provide boat shed for repairs and hoist to lift boats in and out of the water. We are at the moment repairing/Replacing the slip way and in the process or ordering new pontoons to replace ageing and damaged pontoons

Constitutional objectives

4 Purposes The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The development of Gremista Marina, Lerwick, as a community asset for public recreational boating to encourage the sport of boating, and 4.2 The advancement of public participation in maritime sport by:- a) The provision of secure floating pontoon moorings b) vessel launching & retrieval facilities (boat hoist) c) onshore vessel storage d) low-cost workshop maintenance space for member and non-member use. e) The provision of free public slipway services to individuals, groups and organisations pursuing maritime recreation. f) Generally developing marina facilities for the benefit of the Association and the wider community as well to encourage young persons in the safe enjoyment of boating. g) Provide temporary berthing and associated services for visiting boats in the Marina
