02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our trustees plus a band of volunteers and paid professionals advance and promote arts and culture for the local community. This includes art exhibitions, dance events and various forms of stage art such as live music, original theatre and comedy. Additionally we offer affordable accomodation for resident artists to create exciting new and original works.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 to advance the arts and culture by producing high quality theatre, music and arts projects and events and to connect with communities by creating high quality music and arts experiences. 4.2 to advance education by facilitating workshops in order to increase engagement of the arts by making work that is accessible for a broad range of communities. 4.3 to provide recreational activities through the production of the theatre and arts projects and events, and creating opportunities for, and collaborating with, other artists, organisations and the wider community. 4.4 to advance community & town centre development by increasing the access of the general public to theatre, music and the arts, developing strong relationships with audiences within the theatre space and community. 4.5 to advance such similar purposes, promote, establish, operate and/or support others in and develop any other projects, initiatives or activities for the benefit of the general public as the directors may consider appropriate. 4.6 To advance the town & region's music, theatre, cultural & arts industries by assisting the quality of events held.
