02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The object of the Company is to provide a community transport service for such of the inhabitants of Assynt and its neighbourhood who are in need of such a service because of age, sickness or disability (mental or physical), or poverty, or because of a lack of availability of adequate and safe public passenger services. We have an electric minibus, a part time manager who communicates and co-ordinates trips and volunteer drivers.

Constitutional objectives

The following clause shall be interpreted as if it incorporated an overriding qualification limiting the powers of the Company such that any activity which would otherwise be permitted by the terms of this article may be carried on only if that activity furthers a purpose which is regarded as charitable under section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts.
