02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Ponies Help Children was founded in 2015 by Moira Ireland and Heather Stephens. Our goal is to improve mental health and wellbeing by nurturing connections between people and rescued ponies. The ponies are not treated as tools: their care, safety and welfare sit at the foundation of the charity. Clients who visit us engage in hands-on, close contact with the ponies. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and can include grooming, lead work and meaningful quiet time that helps foster trust, emotional connection and life skills.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: 4.1 To relieve the suffering and distress, illness and discomfort of ponies and horses by providing sanctuary and resources to aid their recovery. 4.2 The relief of children and adults with mental and/or physical disability or who are experiencing emotional distress and disadvantage through the provision, or assistance in the provision of equine familiarisation, to provide a safe environment where the children/adults can experience new activities.
