02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Heartland Radio Foundation Limited was set up to advance heritage and culture, community development and educational opportunities across the communities in Perthshire in which we serve. The Heartland Radio Foundation Limited set up Heartland FM, a community radio station in 1992 and recently re-launched and extended its service to cover the whole of rural Perthshire for the very first time - we now serve the towns, villages and hamlets of these areas. We not only provide high quality radio output for lowland and highland Perthshire, we also utilise our resources and expertise to provide media training opportunities and skills development through our educational programmes and training offered to volunteers. We work in collaboration with partner agencies, community groups and charities to address social and economic issues within the area and we promote and celebrate the music, arts and culture of Perthshire and Scotland.
