02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
African Challenge Scotland is a community-led charity that works to reduce social, economic and health inequalities affecting African, Black and minority ethnic communities across Scotland. We empower individuals and families to improve their wellbeing, achieve their potential and actively participate in society. We deliver culturally responsive programmes including youth development, employability support, education and skills training, health awareness, mental wellbeing initiatives, mentoring, volunteering and community engagement activities. We also provide advocacy and support services that help people overcome barriers, access opportunities and have their voices heard. By working closely with communities, public bodies and partner organisations, we strengthen community resilience, promote inclusion and create lasting positive change.
