02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We exist to enhance the health and wellbeing of the community of Central Aberdeenshire. We provide services to all age groups targeting those from disadvantaged backgrounds and are socially isolated. Our aims are to: Provide support to reduce the effects of food poverty/food insecurity. Reduce social isolation to improve mental wellbeing. Empower all to make healthy food choices. We do this by providing practical food skills, food knowledge and food education in a supported environment. We also provide social sessions for those in the community to attend and socialise.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: The advancement of health and well-being. The advancement of education The provision of recreational facilities and the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities and/or activities and only in relation to recreational facilities or activities which are: (i) primarily intended for persons who have need of them by reason of their age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, or (ii) Available to members of the public at large or to male or female members of the public at large. By: a) Overseeing the development and operation of Garioch Community Kitchen b) Providing a safe and supportive environment for participants c) Delivering practical food workshops which develop transferable food skills d) Delivering nutritional and food hygiene training and information sessions e) Promoting key healthy eating messages
