02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
S.M.I.L.E. Counselling exists to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people, ensuring they feel heard, supported and able to thrive. Our belief is simple: no child should be left behind because they cannot access the support they need. We provide accessible counselling in schools and community settings, working with families, education, health services and local organisations to reach young people experiencing emotional difficulties. Through early intervention, preventative education and wellbeing workshops, we help young people build confidence, resilience and coping skills. Our training department develops the next generation of qualified counsellors and equips professionals with skills to support others. Income from training is reinvested in our charitable work, helping sustain and expand access to counselling.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 Our objectives are to promote the mental health and well-being of young people 11-24 who are affected by disadvantages in society due to their age, gender, race, religious beliefs or sexual orientation 4.2 Our outreach service will work in partnership with other community organisations to be integrative and adaptive within the community to provide a bespoke holistic service 4.3 To advance education and skills development of children, young people and adults in an attempt to improve the chances of educational attainment / sustainable employment. 4.4 To develop knowledge and skills around mental health and wellbeing through formal training and workshops available to all.
