02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Winchburgh Scout Group is set up to provide young people in the area with the opportunity to experience new and fun things that they may not previously have had the chance to experience. It gives young people the chance to have fun, make new friends and to learn skills for life in a safe and welcoming environment. Skills are acquired from weekly sessions, Specific badge work, Camps, Hikes, as well as fun group activities like Pantomime Trip, Roller Disco. This is all made possible by the team of leaders/young leaders, who are all volunteers, who work hard to ensure that our young people in all 3 sections. are delivered fun, varied and well planned weekly sessions through out the year. Our Trustees work hard behind the scenes, and we have a good fundraising sub committee who work religiously to organise various fund raising events during the year,. The money raised by them is used to buy new equipment for the group, fund weekly activities as well as subsidising camps, trips, etc.
