Constitutional objectives
7.1 The SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes (without particular preference in order to keep open opportunities for funding charitable causes) by operating as a 'grant giving' charity which will support financially and otherwise charities, community groups, and others (such beneficiaries principally but not limited to be found in Scotland) which charitably further the purposes detailed at 7.2 and provide public benefit. 7.2 For the purposes of the 2005 Act the following charitable purposes are particularly relevant and for the purposes of the 2005 Act are the charitable purposes identified as applicable from section 7 of the 2005 Act- 7.2.1 the prevention or relief of poverty. 7.2.2 the advancement of education. 7.2.3 the advancement of religion. 7.2.4 the advancement of health. 7.2.5 the saving of lives. 7.2.6 the advancement of citizenship or community development. 7.2.7 the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. 7.2.8 the advancement of public participation in sport. 7.2.9 the provision of recreational facilities, or the reorganisation of recreational activities, with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 7.2.10 the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation. 7.2.11 the promotion of religious or racial harmony. 7.2.12 the promotion of equality and diversity. 7.2.13 the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. 7.2.14 the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. and 7.2.15 the advancement of animal welfare.
