02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The aims are: To restore and rebuild as far as is practical the old station at Invergarry. To collect, restore and exhibit railway artifacts to the public. To establish a workshop for restoring railway rolling stock and artifacts. To educate the general public about the history of the station and the railway line it is situated on. This is undertaken by the charity's working volunteers who provide their time and expertise to undertake the restoration and building work required. A display area has been established which visitors are able to view. Volunteers will also chat with visitors, answering their questions and providing information about the history of the station. Open days are held periodically to encourage members of the public to visit the project. Group visits are also accommodated and welcomed. To fund the restoration work, the charity trustees apply for grants and approach local company's for donations of goods and services.
