02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Stranraer Development Trust promotes the advancement of health and wellbeing. The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. The advancement of arts and, culture or science. The advancement of environment protection or improvement of the local terrestrial and marine environments. The provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. Through the guidance of the SDT Board and the diligence of the staff within the organisation, the SDT work with the community, local organisations and stakeholders to deliver services and events that contribute to the above aims and ambitions.

Constitutional objectives

The SCIO’s purposes are to benefit principally the community of “Stranraer and the Rhins” electoral ward as defined by the map attached (“the Community”) with the following objects: The advancement of community development (including the advancement of urban*/ rural* regeneration) principally within the Community. The advancement of health and well-being The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. The advancement of the arts, culture or science. The advancement of environmental protection or improvement of the locals terrestrial and marine environments. The provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended.
