02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity supports individuals from Africa and the Middle East in building stable and purposeful lives in the UK. Last year, we provided individual support in 88 cases, primarily related to housing, social benefits, employment, and violence against women and girls. We also delivered the following courses: 1. Five courses on fuel poverty reached 50 learners. 2. Three courses focused on digital literacy. 3. Three courses addressed child protection. 4. Five courses on phonetics and grammar served seventy learners, primarily college students. 5. Three workshops on poverty and education focused on the Scottish education system, highlighting differences from participants’ home countries and encouraging parental involvement in their children’s education. We provided 12 weeks of additional schoolwork support, one day per week, for primary students in English and Math. We held 14 gatherings, including 3 barbecues in different cities, offering opportunities for women and children
