02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity was established to improve quality of life within the community by providing recreational activities, promoting health and wellbeing, preserving culture, and supporting those in need. Its aims also include helping to save lives and advancing arts, heritage and community engagement. It achieves this by organising a wide range of inclusive, community-based activities such as exhibitions, ceilidhs, dances, gala events and outings. Regular initiatives like the fortnightly lunch club, senior citizens’ trips, and the annual Christmas party bring people together, helping to reduce loneliness and promote social inclusion. The charity also supports safety and wellbeing by maintaining a community defibrillator and delivering first aid training. Cultural events, workshops and trips further enrich community life, while targeted activities, such as winter resilience sessions, provide support to those facing hardship due to age, ill health or other disadvantages.
