02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The club provides recreational facilities and organise recreational activities in the field of model aircraft flying with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the persons for who the facilities or activities are primarily intended. The club has a permanent flying field in Lanarkshire for members to meet and fly model aircraft. The site is operated and maintained by the club’s own members. It has a clubhouse, under cover shelter and a toilet block that is wheelchair accessible as well as facilities to make hot drinks and food. The club has several disabled members. The club provides training for those who wish to learn to fly model aircraft and holds a dedicated weekly evening training session every week during the flying season. The club has several Scottish Aeromodellers Association (SAA) qualified examiners and two Large Model Association (LMA) qualified examiner who can teach all aspects of model flying.
