02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is set up to provide a garden for the community and visitors to come and visit. It is a beautiful space where people can come and relax and take time to enjoy the outdoors. Even though it is in an area of outstanding beauty, the hills can often be difficult to access. the Garden is fully accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs. We have plenty of benches, and shelters if the rain is falling!

Constitutional objectives

2. Areas of Purposes Benefit & Beneficiaries: I. UGOR is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular the objects are: 1.1 To secure a plot of land and develop the Garden of Reflection for the community. 1.2 To ensure the Trustees work together for the benefit of the garden and the community's advancement, sharing information and keeping the people of Ullapool and wider areas informed of the progress of UGOR. 1.3 To create a formal garden for the benefit and advancement of all. a garden that reflects on our community, especially family, friends and neighbours who are no longer with us. 1.4 To create a formal garden that promotes local heritage and culture. 2. To promote involvement and partnership with the whole community, especially promoting accessibility, and relieving difficulties wherever possible, for those who are less able, and to ensure the garden provides strong sensory experience together with a tranquil atmosphere. 3. To advance the education of our community in the creating of the garden and in it's long term development. 4. The garden's 'Area of Benefit' shall be Ullapool and all the outlying communities and visitors on holiday in our area. Ullapool is geographically isolated so it is important that UGOR endeavours to promote the appeal of the garden to all. 5. To maintain the garden on completion and into the future, ensuring the availability of funds for this charitable purpose.
