02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is set up to (1) Providing, maintaining and managing facilities which can be used for recreational, heritage and cultural pursuits in order to improve the wellbeing of the community of Point and visitors to the area.(2) Providing, maintaining and managing facilities which can be used by community groups to assist the advancement of community development.(3)Providing such facilities through the acquisition of the former school site known as Knock school, and developing and maintaining the site to provide amenities for the community and community groups.

Constitutional objectives

The company's objects are: To facilitate the pursuance of activities to promote the social, recreational, cultural and environmental well being of the people of the Western Isles, and in particular the residents of the area known as the Eye Peninsula in Lewis by all or any of the following means:- (1) Providing, maintaining and managing facilities which can be used for recreational, heritage and cultural pursuits in order to improve the wellbeing of the community of Point and visitors to the area. (2) Providing, maintaining and managing facilities which can be used by community groups to assist the advancement of community development. (3)Providing such facilities through the acquisition of the former school site known as Knock school, and developing and maintaining the site to provide amenities for the community and community groups.
