02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
GMF hold an annual festival of music and speech , run by a group of volunteers . It is set up to encourage performers of all ages to enjoy and participate in the making of music , prose reading and Scots Verse in a competitive and non competitive environment at several venues in Galloway. This means that we reach out to as many communities as possible. For audiences all sessions are free entry to encourage bringing old and young together. With over 62 classes and over a 1000 participants ages from nursery to secondary school and adult classes we are an important part of bringing the love and enthusiasm of the Arts to the people of Galloway.

Constitutional objectives
The purpose of the Galloway Music Festival is to advance the arts by encouraging the enjoyment of and participation in the making of music, speech and verse and to achieve this by the holding of an annual festival of music and speech, affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music Dance and Speech.
