Constitutional objectives

The association's objectives are: To provide recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational facilities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended by: - Our work in support of the maintenance of the river environment, banks and public footpaths along the river helps to ensure the river remains a valued asset for the enjoyment of local people and for tourists visiting the town. We also work with The Angling Association and Blooming Haddington to this end. To advance environmental protection or improvement by: - Working with East Lothian Council and SEPA in the development of a flood protection plan and the implementation of flood protection measures. - Organising regular litter picking along the banks of the river - Removal and control of invasive species e.g. Canada Balsam, Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed - Working with the Angling Association to ensure the river environment is maintained as a good environment for freshwater fish. - Liaison with local primary schools to educate pupils in the importance of wildlife and maintaining the river to support it.
