02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Beechbrae exists to improve health, wellbeing and connection by supporting people to engage & connect with nature. We are a woodland-based charity and social enterprise based at Beechbrae Wood, Blackridge, West Lothian that holds a mixed woodland, orchard, gardens, ponds, and labyrinth. We deliver structured nature-connection wellbeing programmes: Woodland Wellbeing for young people and for adults we offer Branching Out and Wellbeing Conservation Groups. These use practical outdoor skills, bushcraft and mindful nature activities to build resilience, skills and confidence. We also operate Beechbrae Woodland Centre, a flexible indoor-outdoor space for hire for day and weekend retreats, therapy, away days and training- increasing access to nature for wellbeing, learning and social connection. Our work strengthens wellbeing, environmental stewardship, skills development and community cohesion through sustained, meaningful engagement with the natural world.
