02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our charity designs and delivers a range of activities, services and infrastructure to meet the needs of the Appin community, generating a range of social, economic and environmental benefits. These include running a community transport scheme, tourism management, oversight of the playpark and boathouse in partnership with their user groups, development and delivery of a health and wellbeing programme, development of new initiatives (eg Appin Rainforest Regeneration Project) and management of the Appin community website.

Constitutional objectives

4 The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The advancement of community development and resilience through the design and delivery of a range of activities, services and infrastructure designed to help Appin be a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive community for all who live and work there. 4.2 The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability or other disadvantage through the provision of support services, including community transport and care services. 4.3 The advancement of citizenship through promotion, encouragement and support for volunteering. 4.4 The advancement of health and quality of life for the people of Appin through the provision of recreation facilities, the organisation of recreational activities, the development of local health infrastructure and services, and the delivery of health promotion initiatives. 4.5 The advancement of education, lifelong learning and skills development through the creation of and support for education and training infrastructure and activities. 4.6 The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture and/or science through the creation, improvement and on-going support of associated sites, infrastructure and activities. 4.7 To promote and support the conservation , protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Appin. 4.8 In pursuance of the above objects and as a means of generating funds to support its activities the organisation will engage in: a) the ownership, leasing and management of land, buildings, vehicles and other community assets. b) the scoping, development, setup and where appropriate the continuing management of community businesses.
