02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Action Porty was initially established to take the former Portobello Old parish Church and halls into community ownership - achieved in 2016. Since then Action Porty has developed and run Bellfield (as it is now called) as a vibrant community hub which provides a wide range of activities and affordable meeting space. As a development trust, Action Porty has went on to develop and run further services and activities including a large volunteer programme, a community cafe and a community fridge. More recently, following a successful Asset Transfer request, Action Porty is currently concluding the acquisition of the former Portobello Police Station for community benefit.
