02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We Operate primarily in Edinburgh and the Lothians, our work targets Scotland’s most deprived neighbourhoods, with a particular focus on Black and brown young people aged 6–18. Many of these individuals and their families, primarily from African nations, face significant challenges as migrants refugees or asylum seekers, grappling with the trauma of fleeing conflict, severe poverty, illness, and social exclusion. Our mission is to empower minority communities and foster their active and equal participation in society. We pursue this through three core aims: 1) improving wellbeing via sports and creative arts, building motivation and self-belief, and creating bridges to support marginalised families. 2) increasing active citizenship by helping young people set personal goals, access volunteering, and enhance employability. and 3) enhancing social cohesion by uniting communities through shared activities, fostering pride, and driving systemic change to remove barriers.
