Constitutional objectives
The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantages (N) To support community use of insects as food and feed to address food security and nutritional and promote well-being among impoverished communities: to devise and setup an insect farming model to introduce an alternative and/or supporting insect-based food resource to the current community options. To help prevent issues of malnutrition and ill-health: by providing an insect-farming model that will benefit the wider community in consuming nutritionally beneficial foods alongside community staples. To support communities in relieving financial hardship: by providing a farming model for local insect species, to be run by parties in the wider community. The advancement of education (B) To educate: To raise awareness and educate through schools and public events on food health and the role of entomophagy in the human diet, the tradition of eating insects around the world, and its importance as a sustainable and affordable source of high quality animal proteins. To train: To support and maintain existing tradition of eating insects in North Benin by promoting, funding and training local communities in more effective insect use. To research: To undertake academic research to build on traditional knowledge of edible insects nutritional value and farming. Results aim to be published online, or in peer-reviewed journals.
